This TV with a 5,000:1 contrast ratio has the best deep black I’ve ever seen. The best plasmas come from Panasonic and Pioneer. This model can run on the expensive side. I got my TV on closeout for under $1000, when the normal price is around $1500 to $2000. This TV is meant for 1080p hi-def, but standard looks very good considering the source. If you can find the price near the $1000 mark this is a great buy!
