Panasonic’s new 64GB Solid State Disk has just been released in order to complement its line of HD recording professional P2 camcorders. With five 64GB SSD P2 cards installed, you will be able to record up to 5.3 hours of video on an AJ-HPX3000 P2 HD camcorder in AVC-Intra 100 or DVCPRO HD (6.6 hours in 1080/24pN) and 10.6 hours (13.3 hours in 24pN) in AVC-Intra 50 or DVCPRO50. Panasonic sells 100 millionth Mobile phone

Posted under Panasonic

p1.png

Panasonic has announced the sale of it's 100 millionth Mobile phone in Japan. It has supplied devices to carriers including NTT DoCoMo, KDDI, and Softbank.

Pansonic first began selling mobile comms terminals in 1979 - the first mobile phone being in 1987. Since then Panasonic has gone on to be Number 1 or Number 2 in the Japanese market for several years. The 100 millionth unit will be a FOMA P905i sold to NTT, for those that are interested.

That is some quantity of devices to get through - although not maybe as much as some other notable vendors, it's still a milestone in it's own right - well done Pana!

Panasonic to put plasma screens in mobile phones

Panasonic to put plasma screens in mobile phones

At a press conference on Tuesday, Panasonic revealed its plans to use plasma technology in mobile phones. Apparently, the Japanese giant is already in talks with AT&T to deliver devices — or at least the technology needed — for the carrier's upcoming mobile TV service. The idea is to rival OLED, and be used for a wide range of applications, including office phones, cameras, gas pumps, vending machines, ATMs, automotive displays, appliances and computer printers. Display uses proprietary technology licensed from AbleComm, Inc.

Plasma screen on a handset? Sounds tempting, can't wait to see the first devices released, even though I doubt the first-gen phones will be that different/better from what we already have… Panasonic's official release which mostly deals with changes in the company's telecommunications and HDTV divisions is available on PRNewswire.

Panasonic Bring Plasma To Cell Phones

Posted under Panasonic

Panasonic Bring Plasma To Cell Phones

Panasonic ain’t too shabby when it comes to plasma displays - after all, they’re the ones with the monster 150″ display at this year’s CES.This time, they’re bringing a new iteration of its plasma technology to cell phones, aiming to take on OLEDs as well as other display technologies found in handheld and mobile devices. Surprisingly, this new small sized plasma display sips a mere 1.5 volts of power and is pretty close in terms of thickness and weight when compared against other portable displays. Panasonic also claims that this display boasts richer color and contrast ratios than most LCDs. The first plasma-enabled Panasonic cell phone will be made available in Japan sometime in the near future. I wonder how much more of a premium we’ll need to pay for such technology.
