Wind and Solar Powered Streetlights at Panasonic Japan

The people from hyperexperience.com visited the Panasonic Center in Tokyo and noticed these solar and wind streetlights accumulate energy in a battery located at their base. At night, electricity from the battery and from the wind powers the light.

It’s neat!

Panasonic DMC-LZ10 Digital Camera

Panasonic DMC-LZ10 Digital Camera

[PMA 2008] I sometimes wish that the pace of consumer electronics would move slower when it comes to new releases as the bank account can only take so much damage before it requires a quick trip to the resuscitator. Having said that, Panasonic’s new DMC-LZ10 digital camera is the latest in the Lumix LZ Series that boasts a couple of key improvements over last year’s DMC-LZ7 - Leica DC VARIO-ELMAR lenses and wide-angle shooting. As for the rest of the specifications, kindly redirect your eyeballs downwards…

  • Manual controls
  • AA battery operation
  • 2.5″ LCD display

  • 10.1 megapixel count

  • 5x optical zoom

  • MEGA O.I.S.

  • Intelligent ISO

  • Intelligent Scene Selector

  • Face Detection

  • Quick AF
Available in February, colors of the DMC-LZ10 are pretty draggy though - you only get black and silver to play with. Does $249.95 sound like a fair price to you?

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS5 Digital Camera

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS5 Digital Camera

[PMA 2008] Panasonic’s DMC-FS20 digital camera is joined at launch with the stylish DMC-FS5, bringing a 30mm wide-angle Leica DC lens with 4x optical zoom to the table. Most of the specifications are pretty much the same with the FS20, and if you don’t mind a smaller LCD display (which translates to longer battery life IMHO), then the FS5 sounds like the better option. Still, different strokes for different folks, so check out the specifications below before making a head/heart decision where your credit card is concerned.

  • 2.5″ LCD display with automatic brightness control

  • 50MB internal memory

  • 10.1 megapixel count

  • Intelligent Exposure

  • MEGA O.I.S.

  • Intelligent ISO

  • Intelligent Scene Selector

  • Face Detection

  • Quick AF
Panasonic has priced the Lumix DMC-FS5 at $249.95 when it is available in February. You can choose from red, black and silver models.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS20 Digital Camera

[PMA 2008] Panasonic isn’t going to let up on its digital camera release anytime soon, with the Lumix DMC-FS20 being the latest to join the stable. For those who are not in the know, the FS models is the prettier version of the Lumix FX Series, bringing together both form and function. I guess in human comparisons, that is something like having an award winning ballerina for a mom who’s always there for you. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced shutterbug, the Lumix DMC-FS20 doesn’t fall short on features.

  • 3″ LCD display with automatic brightness control

  • 30mm wide-angle Leica DC lens with 4x optical zoom

  • 50MB internal memory

  • 10.1 megapixel count

  • Intelligent Exposure

  • MEGA O.I.S.

  • Intelligent ISO

  • Intelligent Scene Selector

  • Face Detection

  • Quick AF
Interested? The Lumix DMC-FS20 will retail for $299.95 when it hits stores next month.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4 Digital Camera

[PMA 2008] Here we have the smaller sibling to Panasonic’s Lumix DMC-TZ5 digital camera - the DMC-TZ4. As everyone knows, big brother always beats little brother to pulp, but the differences between the two aren’t that stark. Must be the growth hormones Panasonic has been feeding the TZ4 with, eh? • 8.1 megapixel count

  • Intelligent Exposure

  • Digital Red-eye Correction

  • MEGA O.I.S.

  • Intelligent ISO

  • Intelligent Scene Selector

  • Face Detection

  • Continuous AF

Panasonic Dictaphones Have Zoom Microphones

Posted under Panasonic

Panasonic Dictaphones Have Zoom Microphones

Having a voice recorder around can be pretty handy since you will be able to keep vocal notes of your thoughts on-the-fly. Panasonic has just rolled out a couple of new models - the RR-US950-K and RR-US750-S. Both are powered by a single AAA battery and comes with USB interface and MP3 recording capability. I’m interested in the 4x Zoom Microphone - imagine being able to pick up noises from further away without putting in the extra effort. In essence, the Zoom Microphone will force both mics on the Dictaphone to focus its recording on a single direction by doing away with surrounding left and right sound.

Panasonic CN-MP50D GPS system

Posted under Panasonic

Panasonic CN-MP50D GPS system

If you have trouble finding your way around, perhaps it is time to invest in a GPS navigation system. The Panasonic CN-MP50D GPS system isn’t any good in the US though, as its 2GB SD card comes pre-loaded with essential phone numbers and map information of 10 million points of interest in Japan. It will hit the Japanese market this February 12th for approximately $650 after conversion. Strange thing it lacks audio and video playback though - that’s like taking a few steps backwards compared to other GPS systems these days that seem to function more and more like PMPs. No idea if it will ever make it Stateside, but keep yourself occupied with the specifications below in the meantime.

  • Touch screen LCD display (272 x 480 pixels)
  • SD memory card slot
  • 4 hour battery life
  • Memory storage for places up to 10 genres
