Panasonic DMP-BD30 Blu-ray player

Panasonic has just introduced the DMP-BD30 Blu-ray player, making next generation even more so. This player is hailed to be the first of its kind that has Final Standard Profile that adds a bunch of new and enhanced features to the world of Blu-ray while making it stand apart from the rest of its brethren. Each DMP-BD30 comes with an SD memory card slot for those who love carrying their HD AVCHD recorded format in this media, Picture-in-Picture support and Audio Mixing capabilities. Additional features include Deep Color Compatibility, HDMI 1.3B, and 1080/24p playback. Guess Panasonic has just upped the ante in the Blu-ray world, and it comes at a relatively affordable price of $499.95.

In-Dash Blu-Ray Player from Panasonic

Posted under Panasonic

In-Dash Blu-Ray Panasonic Drive

During the Tokyo Motor Show, Panasonic was showing this in-dash Blu-Ray player without announcing the price or availability. While the player looks good, we don’t see a good reason to invest in a high-definition system when displays in cars are predominantly small and most can barely support 720p (1280×720 pixel), let alone 1080p (1920×1080 pixel).

New Panasonic Eye Scanner

Posted under Panasonic

New Panasonic Eye Scanner

Panasonic has released a new eye scanner known as the BM-ET200 that boasts voice activation (it bellows out commands like “Stand up straight!”) while identifying a user in just 0.3 seconds. The BM-ET200 can be modified to handle more than 10,000 user records, and is tipped to retail for approximately $2,500 when released in the US next year. The authentication process is pretty simple - the scanner fires a laser into the eye (up to 20″ away), while the user aligns the eye with the camera by directly focusing on a green light. Don’t worry, it won’t leave you blind although it does sound painful in theory. Guess bigwig corporation could certainly make do with one of these.

New generation of Panasonic UniPhier

Posted under Panasonic

New generation of Panasonic UniPhier

Panasonic has just released the next generation of UniPhier that takes advantage of MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, a next-generation codec. This tiny chip is more than capable of compressing full-HD large image data down to approximately one third to half that of the conventional methods without sacrificing high level definition. Not only that, the recordable time has been extended significantly for the same media, this new UniPhier also works well in realizing smooth image data communication. Approximately 250 million transistors have been crammed onto a single chip to achieve such performance figures. This new Panasonic UniPhier system LSI utilizes the efficient 45nm process technology to produce a much higher integration density compared to previous attempts.

Panasonic at CEATEC Japan 2007

Panasonic has certainly gone on a rampage at CEATEC Japan 2007, rolling out three new Blu-ray Disc recorders as well as an equivalent amount of High Definition DVD recorders. The new BD recorders are the DMR-BW900, the DMR-BW800, and the DMR-BW700 with 1TB, 500GB, and 250GB hard drives respectively. Features include full HD playback at 24 fps for theater quality images in the comfort of their own home. These recorders can also record 5.1 channel surround sound broadcasts without suffering from any sound quality or surround effects deterioration, reproducing a perfect replica of the original thanks to the new generation UniPhier system. These new models will debut in Japan on November 1. Pricing details are yet to be confirmed.
